Group IV Semiconductor Inc.
Group IV Semiconductor ("Group IV") is an Ottawa-based company developing a silicon-based lighting technology which is both highly energy-efficient and very low in cost. Existing solid state lighting (SSL) technologies, based on LEDs, are currently cost prohibitive. Group IV's product breaks through this cost barrier, allowing the creation of solid-state light bulbs which can compete head-on with alternatives such as compact fluorescent lamps and displace highly inefficient incandescent bulbs. The same technology is applicable to the lucrative LCD backlighting market as well as to other markets in transition to solid-state, such as automotive and signage.
